Psychotic Break

Posted on

Jerry Cantrell in Atlantic City on April 2nd, 2022. I promised myself years ago that if Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains did a solo tour that I would make sure to go. I especially liked the Boggy Depot album, but also his other material. The other guy I promised myself to go see is Mark Lanegan from the Screaming Trees, but he died a couple months ago… so cross that one off the list.

The show was at a venue called The Music Box at the Borgata. Kind of interesting since the Alice in Chains collector’s set was called “Music Bank” and they have a song called “Man in the Box”. Squish ’em both together friends. Really nice venue, I was off to the left side of the stage only 4 rows back. I wish I was closer to the center to feel the noise a little better, but being by the aisle makes potty breaks and drink runs a lot easier.

Jerry Cantrell is the long grey haired dude. Seems like a cool guy. They finally told the crowd to freaking stand after the 3rd song which I don’t know how you could be seated during this thing. Really nice set list. Surprisingly, 8 of the 19 songs were Alice in Chains songs, but I guess that pays the bills. One d-bagg kept yelling out “Rooster” for most of the show which was pretty annoying. But the AIC tunes got the crowd rockin’. The short haired guy did the Layne Staley parts well and did a good job not trying to play the role of lead singer. From Jerry, “Between” is one of my favorites so give it a listen. I also recommend Angel Eyes, Cut You In and Atone from the new album.

And The Fredman got his self a pick!

Lola Colette and her band opened up and I was very happy I made it in to see them. Not sure why, but they don’t have much of a presence online or in your usual subscription music services. Check out “Flower in Bloom” which is the only song I could find.

The Fredman, totally non-fungible.
